Last night TNKR held its second small group discussion with three North Korean refugees. We decided to hold these small sessions for a few key reasons:
* The speech contest is great, but the audience is really huge so audience members aren't near the speakers.
* The speech contest is naturally competitive and stressful, we wanted to give the refugees a chance to give their speeches in a relaxed environment.
* Unlike the speech contest, this gives audience members an opportunity to ask questions.
* This process started in May, with refugees working with speech coach mentors until the end of June to improve their writing. Then July-August, practicing their speeches in preparation for the speech contest. Then September-October, revise and practice either previous speeches or new ones.
Our third and final session will be on October 18, 2019.
