Have you ever been part of an organization in which people contacted you saying they would like to organize an event for you?
Tim Crawford performed at an event we had earlier this year, then contacted me saying that he would like to organize another one for Freedom Speakers International (formerly TNKR). He doesn't live in Seoul but he organized the fundraiser anyway, working along with FSI Music Manager Peter Daley.
Three different bands performed for free:
* Proto from SeoulTech University kicked off the night
* Ascension slammed the bar with some deep soulful jazzy music
* Seoulmates closed out the night with upbeat smooth and pop music.
Our staff prepared certificates for the performers.
And then there were the behind-the-scenes heroes: Michael Downey, @Rebecca Wemyss, Aurora Krom, Jackie Cole came out to help. And of course FSI co-founder Eunkoo Lee worked with everyone to make sure the night went well.
It is always a great honor when people want to host fundraising events for FSI. Several years ago, we weren't sure that we would survive as an organization. And now we have people who want to help in whatever way they can, even musicians!
In the next week, we will have a book forum with a North Korean refugee author Eunsun Kim, another Matching session, then a birthday party for Hwang Cheol on October 20.
If you couldn't make it last night, you can still support FSI
